Victoire Rio is a tech accountability and information integrity expert with over 15 years of experience in the peace building, humanitarian and tech accountability fields. Prior to founding WHAT TO FIX, Victoire spearheaded tech accountability efforts out of Myanmar from 2016-2023, serving as Social Impact Director for Phandeeyar: Myanmar Innovation Lab, before co-founding the Myanmar Tech Accountability Network. Alongside her work in Myanmar, she helped convene the Next Billion Network, a community of practice bringing together frontline actors from a wide range of high risk and crisis contexts.She has looked extensively at the role and abuse of social media in crisis and authoritarian contexts and has pioneered a range of investigation, documentation, risk mitigation and advocacy strategies that have fueled systemic change to platforms’ products, policies, enforcement and global engagement. Victoire holds a MA in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London. Originally from France, she has lived and worked in Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Haiti, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UK, and the US, working for a mix of civil society, INGOs and International Organizations.
