Policy Manager

 
Are you passionate about information integrity? Do you want to shape the future of digital policy and tackle the financial incentive structures that fuel online harms and degrade our information environment?
WHAT TO FIX is looking for a Brussels-based Policy Manager to steer our advocacy work in Brussels and beyond — turning cutting-edge research into regulatory change.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

Policy Research & Development

  • Analyze regulatory frameworks in the EU and other policy landscapes
  • Monitor policy developments and identify opportunities for strategic intervention
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to develop WHAT TO FIX’s policy positions
  • Author and contribute to high-quality reports, briefing papers, submissions and policy recommendations
  • Leverage WHAT TO FIX's proprietary data, including the Meta Publisher Archive, to produce evidence-based policy analyses
 

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, media and civil society organizations
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to implement multi-pronged advocacy strategies
  • Facilitate a policy working group on social media monetization
  • Represent WHAT TO FIX at conferences, workshops, and policy forums
 

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of international documentation systems
  • Support organizational fundraising efforts through grant writing and donor engagement
 

Required Qualifications

 

Experience

  • Substantial experience in policy analysis, advocacy, or related roles (focus on digital governance, tech accountability or information integrity a plus)
  • Proven track record of producing influential policy outputs (including reports, briefs, position papers, submissions)
  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and coalition building
 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep understanding of the EU policy landscape, particularly DSA, DMA, and related digital regulations (US policy knowledge also desirable)
  • Familiarity with content moderation, algorithmic transparency, or platform governance issues
  • Exceptional English writing and communication skills with demonstrated ability to write well structured, concise pieces, targeted at policy audiences
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities, including data interpretation and synthesis

  • Existing network of Brussels contacts in digital policy
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies and tech platforms
